Meet Our Founder
Pernilla Turner, Founder & CEO, is a passionate community supporter and leader for todayʼs female youth. Her constant desire to positively impact and influence the lives of young ladies in underprivileged communities drive her daily work.
As a teen, she was faced with and overcame several unique obstacles that continue to challenge young ladies of this generation. With perseverance and a strong support system,Pernilla not only became the first person in her family to graduate from college, she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc., and earned a Masterʼs Degree in Public Administration from Texas Southern University in 2009.
As a result of her childhood in the underserved Oak Cliff community of Dallas Texas, Pernilla knows first-hand, that there is a critical need to inspire, enlighten, motivate, enrich, mentor, empower, and minister to female youth through various mediums of their lives.
Her passion to enhance the expectations for young ladies of tomorrow lead her to create Virtuous Star, Inc. “VSTAR” in 2010. This 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicates its mission, vision, and purpose towards positively influencing females (ages 5-18) through the art of Dance, the exposure of Etiquette, and the love of Mentoring.
Pernilla is also a Nationally Certified Etiquette Consultant and Instructor trained in social, children, and business etiquette. She is the author of The Modern Mix: Etiquetteʼs Today, and Chloeʼs Mini Manners.
